Client: BT – Leading Provider of Communications Solutions and Services

Why Threefold:

To roll out a new 3G mobile phone network for 3 Ireland, BT selected Threefold as an outsource partner. Threefold’s skills and experience dovetailed neatly with their needs and we contracted directly with BT for the rollout of 3 Ireland's 3G Network in Ireland.

Threefold’s Input:

A number of areas were outsourced directly to us, with Threefold handling project management, site acquisition, design and construction of the new network being rolled out. We worked in-house with BT and 3 as their exclusive ADC supplier for phase 1 of this contract, taking further responsibility for 50% of phase 2.

3 were a new entrant to a competitive market, becoming the 4th mobile operator in Ireland, where the pool of professional resource available in the telecoms sector was already limited. Building a new network raised sensitive community relations issues which needed careful management.

Benefits to Client:

Threefold had an expert team in place to rollout this sizable project. In site acquisition, our local knowledge of sites and problem areas and strong relationships with site providers proved invaluable. Working to best practice standards in telecoms project management and mobilising the project quickly, Threefold’s expert people - both Irish and international - delivered a network infrastructure of the highest quality.

Client: Ericsson - Leading Telecommunications Supplier

Why Threefold:

In their 3G Swap Network rollout across Ireland, Ericsson called on a range of Threefold’s Outsourcing, Consultancy, and Specialist Management services to compliment their own team and increase their capability to cope with the workload involved.

Threefold’s Input:

Ericsson outsourced their Access and Scheduling Services to Threefold for their 3G swap programme. Working in-house at Ericsson’s offices, Threefold also offered Process Optimization consultancy and Project Management resources for both Quality Manager and Rollout Project Manager roles.

Benefit to Client:

Outsourcing to Threefold allowed Ericsson to focus on core swap activities while using Threefold's knowledge and processes in a controlled and integrated fashion.
From our Process Optimization consultancy, Ericsson was able to get a structured analysis of a live project from an independent third party with specific subject matter expertise and experience on international best practice. Ericsson wanted to augment their project team with specific experience and knowledge, so the Threefold specialist managers gave Ericsson the skills and experience they needed for the duration of the project but without the lead time of recruitment and training.

Client: Clearwire Ireland – Wireless Broadband Provider

Why Threefold:

Clearwire Ireland decided to outsource Site Acquisition to Threefold. Threefolds team worked  with their own in-house RF and Transmission team to deliver their broadband network in Dublin

Threefold’s Input:

Clearwire Ireland outsourced its Site Acquisition function to Threefold, as well as bringing in one of our Construction Project Managers to manage the Design and Build Programme of their Dublin broadband network. This was the first time Clearwire had used outsourcing in Ireland and while the team was based in Threefold’s Dublin offices, there was a constant flow of information to the client.

Clearwire benefited from Threefold’s local knowledge and experience and our specialist acquisition service which increased their build programme and reduced their rental opex.
